Mi Frida |
The Mi Frida project was a month-long project where we chose a famous person to write a biography about and create an art piece inspired by a Frida Kahlo self-portrait.
Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter who created over 200 paintings. Many were self-portraits depicting her pain and suffering of her intense back problems caused by a trolley accident in her youth. She had an unforgettable look with a dark unibrow and colorful clothing. For my "Frida" I decided to write my biography on Kim Kardashian and create an art piece of her. I decided to do my project on Kim Kardashian because she is such a large pop culture figure. I felt that her life is so public that I would be able to write a fairly detailed biography with the extent of my Spanish skills. I wrote about her marriages and social presence. For my art piece I decided to create a new version of the Frida Kahlo "VOUGE" cover. I replaced Frida's face with Kim Kardashians. I kept Frida's red lips and iconic unibrow. We had to include elements that represented our "Frida" so I put her husband Kanye West in her necklace, her children North and Saint into her flower crown, and her diamond ring that was stolen in the Paris robbery. I felt that my piece turned out great. I felt proud of my work. I printed out my art piece and pasted it onto a real VOUGE magazine. My writing was as detailed as I could make it. Both the writing and art were well refined and presented nicely. |
